Frequently Asked Questions

How does TheDock scale with my business?

TheDock is built to scale. From the first site for a new start-up to global sites for large corporations, it can all be built and maintained in TheDock.

Extending TheDock is easy, for Developers and non-Developers alike. You can use our visual Site Builder to add, edit or remove anything in your theme.

You can easily add your own customizations by extending your theme code. You can do so in TheDock’s IDE or directly in the exported files if you prefer using your own code editor. By using a custom Version variable in the generated theme files, you can make sure your own edits are not replaced when exporting again from TheDock’s Builder.

How performant is TheDock?

A theme built using TheDock leverages modern techniques and processes to stay ahead of the competition. A fresh child theme is generated on every export, ensuring your site maintains performance over time.

By keeping your TheDock version up-to-date, your theme will continuously be improved and use the latest standards and best practices when it comes to performance.

Running your website on our infrastructure will ensure no only the theme code but everything related to the performance of your site is optimized. You can read more under Cloud Services.

What is the longevity of TheDock?

TheDock is built to be WordPress native, meaning we adhere to WP core principles and practices as much as we possibly can. The result is a site that will stand the test of time, both from a technical and a usability perspective.

Will my WordPress site be secure with TheDock?

WordPress and security has always been a hot topic. Many have the misconception that WordPress is insecure, but the WordPress core is a very secure piece of software. The issues related to WordPress sites most often stem from the open nature of the ecosystem, with themes and plugins introducing issues in your project.

By keeping all code up to date with WordPress core as well as avoiding the use of plugins, we avoid putting your site at risk. With TheDock, you can (and should) always keep WordPress updated to the latest version.
